Did you know that January 24 is considered the most depressed day of the year? Check out this ABC News video shown on Good Morning America where a ‘travel mom’, Emily Kaufman, offers some great tips for taking a break with your kids this winter.
Winter Travel Ideas to Beat the Blues
As she mentions in the interview, planning a vacation is a great way to beat the winter blues – and taking your kids away during the winter months needn’t be stressful if you plan ahead. Emily advises carefully preparing travel packs for all your kids so they have plenty of healthy snacks and games to keep them occupied during a long trip. She also makes a very good point – the secret of traveling with kids, especially very young ones, is to plan ahead, be flexible, and don’t expect too much of them. If you’re a mom or dad you probably feel tired and grouchy a lot of the time – it’s easy to forget that kids get tired even easier than we do.
That said, a winter break is great way of picking up everyone’s spirits and restoring energy that’s been lost during the cold, dark nights. Emily goes on to look at some great winter vacation ideas, from ballooning in Fremington, NJ through skiing in Utah to zipwire riding in Hawaii.
