    How Hot?

How hot did you think it was when you travellled in the caribbean? I'm thinking of making a trip, but I can't handle extreme high temps.

    Re: How Hot?

That true, the humidity can make all the difference in the world in how hot a place feels.

    Re: How Hot?

Yeah, I agree. Humidity does play a factor in temps. I've never been to the Carribean but I live in Houston and it's very humid here. So it can get pretty hot, ugh.

look at Las Vegas - you'll suddenly find yourself dehydrated from a walk, it's SUCH a dry heat that you don't realise it - always keep water with you in VEgas!

    Re: How Hot?

I actually dont mind the dry heat, never even found myself dehydrated. Humid places though- I sweat horribly and need water all the time.

    Re: How Hot?

Guess it depends on which places we are actually used to.

If we come from a place which is also rather hot or humid, then when we get to Carribean we don't feel the experience as something different, don't we?

But if we come from the very cold areas (e.g., Antarctica :) ) , there is really a GREAT difference!  Don't you think so? :)

    Re: How Hot?

I agree with you Gel, that a LOT has to do with where you've been raised/where you have lived.  For example, I grew up in Canada and Michigan, so I was mostly a northern person.  4 years ago, however, I moved down south to Florida.  Ouch.  While I can walk about long after the Floridians have donned coats, the summers down here kill me.  I have to change my whole schedule and become nocturnal to avoid the sun, heat and humidity.

Jamaica was really hot when we were there in the summer--90s and 100s.  If it's too hot for you, head for the ocean.  It's always cooler with that nice breeze.

    Re: How Hot?

I agree, I don't find other places that hot since i was raised in an environment that is usuall 90 plus degrees in the summer. Actually, I prefer it to be hot than super cold. I've just adjusted to that, and it's not caribbean unless there's some beautiful water to jump into.

Indeed. When I went to Key West, the strong ocean breeze made the temperatures there seem ideal. So much to the point that I could eat outside when dining out, and feel quite comfortable.

    Re: How Hot?

The temp depends on the time of year, but it's always hot in the tropics. If you don't like hot weather, it's nbot a good choice for a vacation.
