"Tijuana" (my turn to nitpick
has had some pretty rough moments over the years. It's an incredibly business border town. As long as you avoid the Zona Norte (where all the sex clubs and prostitution were moved to segregate them when Mexico hosted the Olympics and wanted to improve their image), Tijuana is just a very busy market town. Unless you live nearby in the U.S. and want to do cheap shopping there or go to the race track, it's not really a great tourist attraction.
All U.S./Mexico border crossings are frought with complications these days. Years ago, it was easy to go back and forth but no longer.
