    Why Uhaul Doesnt Improve

youd think with all the complaints Uhaul would have done something to improve or gone out of business but after a lot of questioning and discussions with other disgruntled customers in the long line that is perpetually out the door, apparently each Uhaul is its own franchise and whoever is in charge of choosing these managers or however that process works, the owner, whoever, they couldnt care less about what goes on and there really isnt anyone able to punilize them for mass complaints. (correct me if im wrong here, maybe something can be done i dont know of). I know there's that general 800 number but from what im told each store still runs individually.

that sounds typical of most franchises - it's really up to the individual owners to maintain a certain standard and the main head branch won't get involved until enough complaints line up...

    still sucks, greatly.

    :(

Your always going to need a uhaul. Poeple may complain, but do they stop using uhaul...of course not!

problem is, who else offers the service? I'd rather go with a brand name than "bill and pop's trucking services" and all that..

U-haul aren't the only brand out there; they're just the first one that comes to mind. But there's also Budget and Penske and so forth.

I just haven't been convinced yet that any of the other brands are any better. Heck, they give you four wheels (or more) and storage capacity; why should they care that the heater isn't working and you're going to be driving into a Denver snowstorm? [/sarcasm]

    Re: Why Uhaul Doesnt Improve

I just had a friend quit who worked for uhaul and they were pretty terrible to work for too.  They had him driving a truck from the 80s.  Problem is they have the market all locked up.  Some competition would do them good.

Grrr...I hate how some franchises treat their customers like dirt! You would think there would be some sort of accountability to the corporate office or something.

I think they don't focus much on return business as much as one-times users. Also, in many smaller markets, they're the only game in town.

    Re: Why Uhaul Doesnt Improve

I have found the contrary, that big corporations tend to not care so much about their customers, as they know that if they lose one or fifty, there are thousands more.

The fact is they just don't have any real competition.  This is what happens when monopolies are formed.

What everyone else said.  Plus, they don't depend much on frequent customers, so most of us, when moving again 5 years later, forget how they suck.

nah because no matter how much people complain, they are still the cheapest and they have more locations than any other moving truck company out there.
