I'm vegetarian. I'm not going to click that link - not first thing in the morning anyways - I'm squeamish enough when I'm fully awake :(

If you are a meat lover or a vegetarian really becomes a secondary matter here.  What matters is the way those farmers behave and perform these atrocities.  Farmers like that should be stripped of their licenses and put to jail.  How can these people live with themselves???  This is unbelievable.

I don't eat too much meat espacially pork meat because of my blood temperature. I prefer to eat fruits and vegetables.

LOL, this is something new.  How do you measure your blood's temperature?

Re: do you eat the meat a lot ?

And how does your blood temperature affect the food that you can eat?

I eat meat now, but I was vegan for many years. I simply could not accept being a part of the process that put animals through what I had seen them go through, so I chose to abstain. But then I got pregnant and wasn't able to keep food down well, and the amount of vegetable protein that I had to consume to get enough eat day-lets just say that my pregnant stomach couldn't keep it down and I got sick.

So now, my daughter is approaching two, and still nursing, so I still eat meat. That will change when she is older.

Does this have to do with macrobiotics or something?  (Not trying to be judgemental or to confuse the discussion, just curious.)

    ---

Me, I eat some meat but not a lot.  I'm not so worried about cruelty (even though I know I should be); it's just that I'm squeamish.  When I see the packs of chicken drumsticks in the supermarket, some with bits of the claws still on -- or steaks full of bone and gristle -- or even an egg with a blood spot -- I just can't stand it.  I basically stick to the tender and boneless, and try not to think too much about it.

(We travelled in Europe several years back, when mad cow disease was very much in the news, and we were warned not to eat beef on the bone.  I still have sort of a superstitious aversion to beef.)

Mad cow disease still occurs in pockets throughout Europe and North America. I know what you mean about being squeemish. There was a time I could only eat things that you couldn't tell by looking at them what animal they were from. Other times I could cope with whole fish as long as my father cut the head off. I just can't abide by having my dinner look back at me.

I am safe I guess. I've never tried beef. Actually eating beef is illegal according to our relegion. Cow is worshiped like goddes in hindu relegion.

Not a lot. I like flour products the most. Pasta, bread, that sort of thing. But I love pot roast, filet mignon, etc. I do have a problem with roasted chicken. I never have an easy time eating it. Same goes for fish.

    Do you mean blood pressure?

I try to eat lots of fibre, vegetables, fruits and when I eat meat I try to choose low fat cuts.

Re: do you eat the meat a lot ?

I'm not a vegetarian, but I do have a problem having my meal look like an animal that I can recognize. Steak, no problem. But roast chicken or even fish - I find them horrifying. I didn't use to be like this... somehow I've grown to feel more repulsed by recognizable shapes as I got older.
