    LOL!

And I've tried chicken gizzard in Japan - that's pretty horrible!

When I was in college I traveled in Africa and ate some very questionable things--including stuff that made me sick for months [parasites].

    Re: Food

Not a big fan of spam, but I hear that the right chef can dress it up pretty well.  I have eaten chicken gizzards in the US, and they weren't so bad.  It was like chewing on rubber though.  My children are actually fans of freeze dried meal worms, you couldn't pay me enough to eat those...YUCKY!

Eeeek! What sort of parasites were they?

    Re: Food

I like adventure travel (including food choices) and I just can't see myself being at a fabulous place like Hawaii and going to McDonalds.  I guess just as bad would be going to the islands to eat Spam, though.  Smile

    Re: Food

I think it depends on how long the trip is too ...if it's a ten day or two week vacation, I probably wouldn't either, but if you're working in a very foreign place for weeks or months, a Mickey D can be nice every once in a while just because it feels so normal ...kind of like comfort food.

    Re: Food

Well that's true enough.  My vacations are generally under 2 weeks and often just 8 or 9 days, so I want to get all the "new" food experiences I can get.  If I'd be gone longer or be in a place where I could only get unrecognizable things (or chicken gizzards, eeewww!)  I'd be glad for the Big Mac or nuggets, too.  Smile

    Re: Food

When I was living in Central America, I was out in the boondocks, and din't have any American fast food for over six months. When I had the opportunity, I rushed to Pizza Hut, even though I'd never eat there here in the US.
