I do, most of the time when I travel on my own expenses. I use varies online searches, but always look for the one that have live help so that I can talk to real person. Online discount for hotels and travels arrangement are many and if you are lucky enough, you can save a few hundreds by using this method.

I do it all online - research first, then booking air travel, hotel, car rentals.

It's great - particularly being about to "shop around" easily.

Booking online is very practical.  It is fast and the offers of the travel agencies are just a click away.  Sometimes there are discounts given, too.

We always book online, but after a bad experience with priceline (we got to the airport and our reservation couldn't be found, we ended up missing the flight and being bumped to a different one) we usually use the airline site itself.  Delta.com, etc.  I've found that we never have issues that way, and have even gotten some fairly good deals through the company sites when I'm booking closer to time.

Oh, you use expedia? Is it reliable? Or do those commercial ads just lead you off a cliff.

Online travel sites are definitely much cheaper. I don't remember the last time I booked through an agent.

I never have; I always call an agent or something.  If you call late (10 or 11), when they're not overworked, you can usually get a pretty good deal.  But I don't know how it compares to online offers. 

 

I always book online, whether with Expedia, Travelocity, CheapTickets or other such websites. I've found that they often have the same prices, so it really comes down to travel times and other accesories like hotel rooms and rental cars if I need them.

Expedia and Travelocity have worked better than CheapTickets for me in the past, but I've also found that going to airline website themselves somtimes have better deals than Expedia or Travelocity.

I don't know if I remember how to book over the phone anymore. I might have to try it next time I need to fly somewhere and see what it's like.

I've been thinking about trying to book online...shop around, compare prices...I'm just not sure I'm ready to give up on being able to hear a voice on the other end of the phone line.  :-) 

I usually book online with orbitz and it has always gone well for me.  I find they are among the lowest in price.

Booking online is hassle free, and places like orbitz, expedia, travelocity, and priceline are all good places. I've booked reservations through them a few times. :)

booking online through a site such as expedia is a good way to often get a good rate, combined with options.  but the issue at hand is that you will have to be your own travel agent, just as if you had booked directly with the airline.  you need to check flights and times with the airline schedules to be sure that there is enough time between connections to get to your next flight, and check your reservations ahead of time.  these companies make money in volume sales, and like anything else, you get what you pay for. 

 

fyi, on the west coast most often southwest airlines has better deals if you book enough ahead of time than you can find on any package/cheap rate sites. 

About 90% of the time I use Expedia or Yahoo Travel. If I was going on a very expensive trip with a complicated itinerary, I'd still call a travel agent.
