London: Neal's Yard, Neal Street, Covent Garden.

If you visit London be sure to go to Neal's Yard, Neal Street and Covent Garden.

Neal Street is great for shops and restaurants, and has a distincly Bohemian feel.

Neal's Yard started out as an "alternative lifestyle" oriented group of small shops, including a bakery, created from the resurrection of an old yard.

Covent Garden speaks for itself: there is a beautiful shopping centre where the old fruit and veg market used to be. The emphasis is on original items, rather than the usual high street chains, so you'll find a lot of things here that you would not get elsewhere.

I'm glad Covent Garden sort of changed horses in midstream.  When they first redid everything, alot of the shops were sort of high street spin offs so I didn't go back for a few years.  But recently, I did, and the shopping is great there!  It's a great morning or afternoon.

I missed these places when I was in London. Course, I was in London for just a couple of days. I hope to go back though, so I'll have to add these places to the list of things to see and do.

Covent Garden is a nice place.

Another OK area is Camden Market - more for the hippy / alternative type stuff, but if thats what you're into you can get some great bargains.

Yes, I like Camden market too - brilliant place.

I also like to go up to Camden Lock on a Sunday. There's loads of stalls, shops and people. Loads of arts and crafts - very alternative and bohemian.

Also there's Dingwall's as I recall. I saw some good gigs there.

It is indeed wonderful, but if you are in the area, be sure to check out some of the more fringe things too. You don't really get to know Britain by the tourist attractions.
