    Car Rental Plates

Hopefully car rental places no longer have easily recognizable license plates.

I remember this was a concern years ago because people unfamiliar with an area were clearly marked by driving these cars with rental plates and it made them easier crime victims.

Not certain about the U.S. these days, but in some European countries the plates are still pretty recognizable as rental cars.  it is definitely a thing to be aware of.

    Re: Car Rental Plates

This was my concern when I recently rented. I had to cross a few states and was kind of paranoid every time we stopped and left the car unattended. It was bad enough  that the tags were from another state...

Then I wondered if the inspection sticker gave it away somehow. I guess I'm just a nervous nelly with rentals any way.Embarrassed

wouldn't you just love to beeeeeeeeeee me? "-)

The best thing to do is to familiarize the car company. Be wise and smart in renting a car. I rather prefer to rent a car in a company that is famous and has a name not just a small rent-a car shop in the street. Who knows maybe those cars are stolen. It's also important to read and sign papers before renting to assure that you are secured.

That's something that hadn't occurred to me. I've only rented from a nationally known chain, sometimes at an airport. I definitely wouldn't want to be driving around in a stolen car anywhere.

I think the most difficult part of driving a stolen car is being involve in a crimes without your knowledge. How much more if you're not from the country itself or you're just a tourist. Be sure in renting a car.
