are you aloud to bring back food from overseas?
ive heard new restrictions on liquids..is it the same for regular food.

anyone ever have problems at customs?

If I travel from my homeland, I made to the point that I bring foods or delicacies.

Some of it are dried salty fish, dried mango, or dried banana.  I see to it that these can not be detected from the custom.  I packed it with a folie or carbon so that the scan machine cannot detect it.  So far, I have not encounter such problem with the custom.

I did hear about there being some restrictions but how they apply and what categories of food, I ignore that!

There are websites where you can verify about those rules.

Last time I travelled there were signs up saying what you could and couldn't take through - many spices, seeds, and meat / dairy products aren't allowed into europe from certain countries by the looks of it.

I didn't pay much attention as I wasn't carrying any food, but I think it would be wise to check with customs if you're carrying any food produce.

I used to bring food from Philippines to Brunei. I brought 2 bottles of wine and a fried pork. Brunei is a Muslim country for sure they hate pork. My pork was confiscated and thrown away by the security. I hated that security until now.

Basically you are not supposed to carry anything that could have germs or parasites that could infect the countries own growing stock. Meat and vegetables, when raw and not sealed in vaccuum packaging are notorious for carrying all sorts of bugs, and given that the conditions on the plane may not be conducive to safe handling, its considered a risk. Cans of stuff are fine.

Well, I haven't traveled for a few months but I always bring back simple snack like chocolate and biscuits. I don't think I've ever tried bringing anything else, though.

I think that there are other concerns tied in with these about whether or not you'll be going to a farm when you're in the country you're entering.

I guess this is to try to limit possible contamination of livestock and produce.

Hmm, I'm really curious. I mean I know many people who send food overseas and those packages pass through customs. I wonder if there's a difference between personally bringing in something and receiving something as a package.
