    Re: dangerous countries?

There are countries which I consider at the moment dangerous.  Not in South America but in Middle East.  Like Iraq or Pakistan.  As I watch the news, how chaos, troubles those Countries are.

The only travel warning in existence is for travel to Colombia because of the drugs related wars.  You can read more about it here.  But as always it's advisable to exercise caution when visiting any 3rd world country.  Poverty levels are high so you can be victimized rather easily (robbery, assault, etc)

I never dream to visit Iraq and Pakistan. It's a dangerous country. Infact, I don't want to meet Sadam Husein. I saw it in the television all the damages of bombings in Iraq. It's a terrible country.

The State Department puts out warnings when places are dangerous, but that's not the only factor you should use.  Like someone else said, many of the third world countries have potential for being troublesome if you are not with an organized tour or at least with some other people.

Actually travelling to the 3rd world country is sometimes risky.  We  experienced once putting our wallet and cellphones in our *** (bra).  You can´t even free walking having shoulder bags or jewelries because of many snatchers.

This is true.  If you are visiting a country like that and carry anything that shows you are a tourist, it

suddenly becomes a lot more risky.

    Re: dangerous countries?

The problem is when they saw a white person (americans or western people) they tend to have in mind that these people have enough money or treasure. That´s why they always follow those kind of people.

It is more as risky.  You are afraid coming back again in such countries.

Canada's Foreign Affairs ministry advised against traveling to Oaxaca, Mexico.

I'm not sure I'd refer to most of Iraq as "safe." I guess that's my reaction to the routine kidnapping and beheadings anywhere in the country.

Thank's Ricardo for the site. It helps me know the details of the issue. Iraq for me is totally not safe maybe because the history of the place.

Very true... I agree with this.  Parts of even the worst countries are "safe" a great percentage of the

time when a bomb isn't going off, but there is certainly a much better chance of a bomb not going off

or kidnappings or beheadings in Chigago, New York, or Toronto than *anywhere* in Iraq!

    Re: dangerous countries?

In my country, bombings are rampant too as well as kidnap for ransom. But the most scary for me are the beheadings in Chicago and other dangerous places.

    Re: dangerous countries?

Part of the reason that I wouldn't want to travel in the unstable countries like Iraq is that I wouldn't necessarily know where the really "bad" sections were.

Even in my own city, I know of areas to avoid after living in the metro area for a couple of decades.
