Yes we did see Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes about 1 year ago in Barton G restaurant in Miami. Surely everybody's attention was on them.  Owner came out to greet them and waiters were extra friendly to all customers

I've never seen a celebrity just out and about - that must have been cool :)

I've been a steward at events they've been attending, and I even once failed to recognise someone and challenged them for their badge - they took it in good humor though :)

Yeah, that was kinda cool .  My wife's best friend is working in La Perla Fashions in Manhattan.  She sees celebrities on a daily bases.  She says some are extremely unpleasant to talk with.

I've eaten with the senators at the Rayburn Building in DC.... not sure if they qualify as celebrities,

though. 

I've seen lots of local celebrities not Holywood celebrities. I hope to see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in person. They are perfect match.

I saw Magic Johnson in the airport some years ago... I'm 95% sure it was the Buffalo, NY airport.

Anyone here have seen Michael Jackson in person? How does he/she looks like?

I escorted JANET Jackson backstage at an event about six years ago.  She was amazingly pretty in person.  Her face is beautiful, and when she smiled, it went completely to another level.

Does anyone know if there are celeb spotting web sites where you can say 'I'm going to XYZ place, who might I see there'?

I wouldn't know who most celebs were unless I was looking out for them, but it would be kinda cool to swot up on local celebrities just to increase the chances of having some stories to tell once I got home.

I haven't, but a few of my friends saw Ashanti while staying in Guam, and my French instructor stayed near Sophie Marceau's residence in France.
