    Re: Taking Medicine

I take a tablet before the bus start to drive.  It depends how long should I travel.  When longer as 2 hours, I have to take medicine to prevent vomitting and head aches too.

Yes it is really a problem while travelling in buses. I generally do not take any medicine. But carefully select a seat in the middle portion ( between the front and rear wheels). It is somewhat comfortable.

I frequently have to take Dramamine for motion sickness when traveling buy bus, train, car or plane.  It's really weird because it doesn't bother me a bit to be on a boat!

    Re: Taking Medicine

It's been a long time since I've taken a bus, but I've flown many times without a problem. The only time I was airsick was my first flight, which was on a DC 3 and I walked the length of the plane while it was flying.

Do you think someone's likely to have bus sickness problems if they're okay when they fly?

I don't think you would but then again, I have sickness for cars, buses, planes but not boats.  I haven't ridden a bus for about 35 years!  I hope I don't have to again either.  My bus memories are filled with smoke and body odor.  I hope it's a lot better now.  I do have good memories of where my mom and I went on the bus though.  Smile

    Re: Taking Medicine

For those who travel with kids, I suggest to let your kids take a chewable tablets for them not to feel dizzy. I used to do that to my younger sister. I even bring an ointment for my nose or an inhaler to avoid bad smel.

    Re: Taking Medicine

I was given some anti-sickness tablets by my doctor, but they make me feel dizzy, so I only take them if I'm actually feeling sick. I'm fine for about a four hour coach journey, but anything longer and I do get sick.

    Re: Taking Medicine

This ay sound strange but when I am travelling a long way by road, I carry a cut lemon. It was something that I learned during pregnancy; the smell of a cut lemon, or indeed lemon juice, can easy nausia. I used to drink lemon juice in water when expecting and to this day the smell of a cut lemon helps ease sickness for me.

    Re: Taking Medicine

No I do not not take any medicine.  I do not usually have trouble.  Now if I end up with a migraine before or during a bus trip than that can cause me problems.  In that case I would need to take my regular migraine medicine.

Now I learn something new everyday. I didn't know that a cut lemon actually ends nausea.Hmm, If i would have known that long time ago, I would of had less trouble during my pregnancy.

It may not work for eveyone, but I know that it helped me and at least one friend of mine. It's certainly worth a try.

That lemon thing is interesting - I would have thought odours would have made the nausea worse. I'll try that next time I travel.
