    WOW!!!

If you live in the United Kingdom and you are 17 years old you are not allowed to drive in the country.I honestly think the USA should do that. That would be a wonderful idea I think that you should be an experienced driver before you get behind the wheel. I wonder what their car accident statistics are like.

I think this is a good idea for driving in general, too.  If you're talking about car rentals, I think I heard

somewhere that you need to be a certain age before they will rent a car out.

I think they were talking about driving in geenral but I am not sure.  But yes it is true that car rental agencies have age requirements when offering a car rental to someone.

I was talking about driving in general not just car rentals. I think the age requirment for car rentals is fairly decent. I wouldn't change that one at all.

    Re: WOW!!!

Sorry but this is not true. The requirements in the Uk are that you are at least 17 years before starting to take driving lessons, and that you have been driving for at least six weeks before you take your test. So you could be driving, by yourself, at 17 years and 6 weeks old.

    Re: WOW!!!

That is deep. I know here you are able to drive at 15 with a licenses driver, which this called your permit. Then at 16 you are able to get your drivers license. 17 here means you are almost grown. I think that they should not allow people to get their drivers license until they are 21. I feel if drinking isn't legal until that age then driving should be treated the same.
