    What happened to hotel happiness?

What happened to hotel having the bellhop boy get your bags and take them up to your room. Back in the day, almost every single hotel had one of those but now it like they are so hard to find. Or either you only find them at the "rich" hotels.

So far almost all hotels in my place really have bellboys. It's a plus factor for a hotel to compete in the Hospitality Industry. But some motels don't have any bellboys. You can ask someone to carry your bags but you need to give them tips.

I can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere that had a bellboy. I would have liked to see it, but I don't have that much money! It does seem a quaint thing of yesteryear, not sure why.

It doesn't seem as if its the thing to do anymore. But who wants to carry bags all the way down a long hall with no help especially if you have numerous amounts of bags. I think they should have bellboys in every hotel if you ask me. And it would be more job opps, lol.

Especially with a kid in tow! No, I don't like carrying bags, but since I already lugged them round the airport and to the hotel, another walk won't kill me. What MIGHT kill me would be the increase in room price to cover hiring bellboys.

Ok you have a point. I know that if they do hire bellboys then there is a guarantee that the room prices will go up.but heck if you travel alot eventually carrying those bags will eventuallly give you a high bill due to back problems in the future, lol.

Re: What happened to hotel happiness?

I've stayed in a couple of hotels that had bellboys, but the vast majority of the ones I use don't have them.  I don't mind too much - its one less person to have to tip *g*  (I don't mean that in a bad way, I will tip them if I have one help me, but I can't really afford it).

The one thing I hate is when the lifts are broken, and the hotel doesn't have anyone to help with bags.  I was in London once on the way to a flight, it was roasting, and I was ill with heat stroke.  The lifts were off, and I had had a bag on my shoulders and another bag wheeled behind me.  I was obviously struggling, to get them up the stairs - then I found that the key to the room didn't work - I had to lug everything back down again, then back up with a new key - and they never once asked if I needed a hand.

    Gotta love 'customer service'.
