How many launguages do you speak, and does it affect your choice of travelling destination whether or not you speak the language of the place you want to visit?

I personally am not comfortable going where I don't speak the language. I speak English, Greek, French and German and briefly studied Spanish. So I am comfortable doing large swathes of Europe, but not much outside.

I am from south asia, so I speak almost all major south asian language. Nepali, hindi, marathi, bangali, vojpuri. And of course english. I am trying to learn japanese and spanish too.

I speak french and portuguese to an extent. I'm also learning Japanese. I'm not truly fluent in anything except English though, as I never get to practice any languages so I can only read and write them. I try to get at least phrasebook fluency in a language before I go to the country in question, because I hate to perpetuate the perception that English people think the rest of the world should all speak English.

I can speak six language and I understand another two, I can read another two but can't read or speak them at all.  I am best with romance languages though because second to english that is what I was reaised speaking.

I speak English and Korean fluently. French semi-fluent, Spanish just enough to get around, Swedish a little but probably not enough. I can also understand Italian, but can't speak it.

I only speak English, and I would be most comfortable vacationing where it was spoken to some extent.

I have spoken a few Spanish phrases while in the Dominican Republic and Mexico, but I don't have a grasp on the language.
