    First time Air Travel

The fisrt time you step on a plan is scary but it is nothing to be frightened of.  I was terrified the first time a took a flight to New York but by the time I returned I felt safe and comfortable. Airplane travel is safer then riding in a car.

Girl please, airplanes are not safer than cars. That is deep for you to even feel that one. First and foremost, you are in the air thousands and thousands of feet with no control of this heavy piece of machine. At least when you are in the car driding you are on the ground! and have control of your vehicle. I would never choose a plane over a car. Always remember that you don't have wings.

    Re: First time Air Travel

Sorry Randle but the statistics speak for themselves. You are many times more likely to have an accident and die in a car than you are in the air. Just think about it-the pilots have thousands of hours training-how long do drivers train for? The planes have a huge service team that are dedicated to keeping them in tip top shape-some people NEVER take their car to a mechanic-choosing instead to do the work themselves. Let me tell you, the pilots don't fix the planes themselves! It's a specialist who does.

So for these and many other reasons, planes are FAR safer.

Statistics may be correct and thats great but i would rather die in a car than in  a plane. Thats my own personal opinion.

    Re: First time Air Travel

I can understand that to a point, I really can. When you are facing death in a plane, I think you have a lot more time to think about the fact that your butt and your head are about to meet in a horrible fashion than if you are in a smash on the ground. Plus there is the fact that you could crash into a body of water, and the problems that could entail. But still, driving scares me more.

    Re: First time Air Travel

This is such a morbid discussion! Flight is pretty routine now, and I always feel safe in a plane. That said, I feel safe when someone else is driving a car too, but I can't drive myself, and I don't think I would make a good driver. The roads are dangerous because of the other people on them - you have no idea if they're drunk, distracted, tired, on the phone (yes, I know half of that is illegal, but people still use the phone and drive all the time). At least pilots have to pass far more rigourous tests.

Yeah I don't like the idol time that you have when flying adn the situation of you crashing. Nah I'm not into that whole air thing, knowing im about to drop thousands of feet. and probably burn to death.

    Re: First time Air Travel

Or drown. Neither a nice way to go ;)

I really do think though that the roads are far more dangerous, and even in this day and age our schools are dangerous. Just look at this week's news-you can't even go to class without being in danger-I'll take the security of the air any day.

    Re: First time Air Travel

Man that whole school thing would have caused me to drop out and go to an online university. There is way too much going on for me these days. I haven't had a problem with flying but at the same time something happens where am I going to run.

    Re: First time Air Travel

If you tried to avoid everything bad in this life you would never leave your bed. Someone in my neighbourhood was killed whilst sitting in his armchair, in a drive by shooting. So what are you going to do? Board up your windows? Life is not without risks, but not without fun either.

    Re: First time Air Travel

It's normal feeling to feel nervous on your first flight sooner you'll be used to it. Speaking of accidents, it usually happen anytime and anywhere. Even if you're trying your very best to avoid accidents, there are still possibilities that you'll be involved in it. That's why we must be careful all the time especially in travelling.

    Re: First time Air Travel

Yeah-stay in bed all day to avoid the world and you could fall and break your ankle going to the loo! Or burn yourself whilst making a meal, or get bed sores and die of an infection! This world is a perilous place my friend.

    Re: First time Air Travel

Funny, I think people just have their own way of looking at things but I guess it is what it is. You can't hide from the world and thats the bottom line. You still live in it.

    Re: First time Air Travel

Exactly, Randle :)  and while you're living in this world you may as well get on with doing things you enjoy or want to do, instead of worrying about things that are mostly out of your control.
