    What should you NOT eat?

A lot of places we go, we hear, 'don't drink the water' or are advised to not use ice in local places. But are there any foods that we in the West should avoid? Is there something that traditionally would make us sick, or that you have to eat in a certain way for it to be safe?

I think that you should not eat food that you don't feel like eating. It's just a matter of taste and customs.  We are all the same so if others eat it we you will be able to eat it as well. I suggest watching "Bizarre Foods" on Travel Channel.  This is IMHO of course and I can be wrong.

I was kind of thinking along the lines of-Eskimos eat blubber. But our stomachs are not accustomed to that kind of thing, and I would imagine that if we took to eating too much the first time, it might not feel so good. You know what I mean? The sort of thing that is ok if you are used to it, but that takes time to get used to.

I see what you mean.  Yeah, I am sure a lot of foods would make us (westerners) sick.  That  agree with you completely

I think that with everything going on with the bird flu I would not eat any type of bird while I was in another country. Depending on were I was I may not eat any beef. If you are going to eat veggies then make sure you wash then good.

Usually when I travel I stick to foods I know for most of the trip. I will sample local delicacies, but only in very small quantities for the first few days until I know they agree with me. I made the mistake once of assuming that because something tasted nice it was OK, only to end up seriously ill from eating too much.
