    Re: Note to Americans

I would be more or less peed, if I asked for a automatic and they gave me a stick. For the simple fact that, most of yall are talking as if you have some type of experience with stick shifts, I HAVE NONE!. So guess what they have given me something I can't operate and if I were to try, I would no doubt total the car. So what do we do? Do I stand there and look silly or do I try ti drive. I why would a rental company even risk that? If a person aks for an automatic then obviously they aren't too good with the stick.

That is good to know. I learned how to drive a manual years ago but I wouldl still be scared to drive in the U.K. I have heard about so many people getting into accidents in different countries because they have not taken the time to learn the rules of the road.

and Of course the rules of the road are very different when in different areas. I guess people always think that its all the same where ever you go. You have no idea how many different wayd to drive there are.lol

It's a good idea if car rental shops will give a car that is convenient to use for their customers. I think absent minded drivers often cause accidents. It's simply  because they are at ease of using automatic not a stick.

I mean sticks are not for everyone. Everyone doesn't want to go through th hassle of doing all that extra crap when driving should be as simple as one two three.

    Re: Note to Americans

It wasn't always that easy, and in most countries there just are not that many automatics on the road. In the UK for instance, stick is the norm, not the exception. Few people buy automatics, or learn to drive in them initially because that lands you with a restricted license, and no one wants that.

So that's the trouble Randle-only in America can you learn to drive without actually doing anything yourself.

    Re: Note to Americans

How is it not doing it yourself. The cars here don't drive themselves, we drive them. The only extra added is you having to change the gears. I think sticks are silly if you ask me. Just extra stuff you have to focus on while trying to focus on the road.
