    Automatics?

I wanted to know if any one knew if all the rental cars were automatics. I would assume that they are because you have to know how to drive an automatic before you learn how to drive a stick.

    Re: Automatics?

I think they are.  I have never run into a standard and neither has any of my friends or family who has had one.  I don't remember them asking if you can drive standard so I think automatic.

I think that in the UK, rental cars may be stick shift. You either have to ask for an automatic, or they ask you whether you can drive stick. You see the norm is to drive stick in the UK-licenses are restricted for people who can only drive automatic.

    Re: Automatics?

I really do not think that all rental cars are automatics. I say that because what about those high price sports cars that rich people rent. Some sports cars only come in a manual stick.

Hmmm I guess so, I guess you would have to actually ask for one of those. I'm sure they aren't going to give it to you.

    Re: Automatics?

Almost all car rental shops provide either manual or automatic car. It's will be easier for you to choose what car best fits for you.

    Re: Automatics?

Well yeah I guess so but what doesn't make since to me is if you know how to drive a stick then driving an automatic should be a breeze. And not everyone know how to drive a stick so  I would think that companies would only rent automatics.

    Re: Automatics?

Actually the difference is not so slight. If all you have ever driven in your life is a stick shift, then simply losing that requirement can be enough of a distraction to make driving dangerous. It's not so bad if you do both occasionally, but going from stick to auto like that is supposed to be hard.

    Re: Automatics?

Really. I figured if you lose all the extra stuff then. it might become more simple for you to operate the car. I find it very confusing driving a stick shift.

    Re: Automatics?

Driving a stick shift is a little bit confusing if you're not used to it. I guess constant practice makes you an expert driver randle. Try it!
