Why is it that when you go to Mexico people tell you not to drink their water. Take bottle water if you can and or just buy it.

It simply means that water in Mexico is not safe to drink especially if it's not purified. I'm not sure of the current issues of water system in Mexico. But if you don't want to buy water, you can simply boiled it at home before drinking.

This is the case in many places-not just Mexico. There may be pollutants in the water system, or the piping may not be good enough (into the town) to keep ground water out. There may be other things wrong with it too that I won't go into for gross factor.

It's not safe to drink local water in some parts of Mexico because of the possibility of getting sick like developing intestinal trouble. I remembered the saying "When you aren't sure about the water...drink a beer" It sounds cool.

This saying has so much truth about it-even though the beer may be brewed using local water, the process of brewing kills anything that could harm you.

The saying sounds cool for me eventhough it's a little bit exagerated. Of course, it's impossible for kids to drink beer. But the most important is we make sure that you drink safe water all the time.

Well in "times of old" when there really was NO safe water to drink, beer had an alcohol content of very small percentage. It was not enough for a child even, to get drunk on, and so yes kids drank beer. It was the wine of the day that was for drinking for pleasure, not ale.
