    Security?

How do you feel about the cleaning crew entering your room when you are away? I have never really liked it. Even with those do not disturb signs that you can put on the door knob, I have still had uninvited guest clean up the room. Luckily, I haven't lost anything, at least that I know of.

    Re: Security?

I don't like it as well.  I am sure that majority of cleaning personnel are honest people but still it doesn't feel right.  I always lock my valuables in a safe.

    Re: Security?

It's so hard to trust someone nowadays. I haven't experienced any lost of personal things in the Hotel. But I see to it that I'll never leave valuable items in the room if I'm away unless if there's a lock.

    Re: Security?

We've used the safe in our room and a safety deposit box in the hotel lobby before.

The only time I've had something stolen from a hotel room was when I was on the road working in Ontario, not on vacation.

    Re: Security?

I've never had anything missing from my hotel room but still, I don't like anyone entering the room while I'm out. I always put the do not disturb sign on before I fully enter the room and don't take it off until I leave.  I get clean towels daily from the desk or the housekeeper and leave the old ones in a bag outside the room door.

wouldn't you just love to beeeeeeeeeee me? "-)

    Re: Security?

I don't like when the crew comes in when I'm there. It makes me so mad because its like they should know but at the same time you should put a sign on the door thats why they give them to you.

    Re: Security?

I think that's the plus when it comes to a hotel... you have people that cleanup after you. I personally wouldn't mind as long as my valuables are locked up.
It's a service you pay for :)... might as well enjoy it while exercising caution.

    Re: Security?

I don't like it either. I have never had a bad experience, but that's because I've always put the sign on the door. To date, no one has yet ignored that sign and gone in anyway. I'm sure it'll happen in time, but not yet.

    Re: Security?

I think the best way inorder to avoid theives is to secure all valuable things. You can lock your bags or there's an available safety deposit box in the Hotel.

    Re: Security?

Now that I REALLY don't trust! Nothing makes me more uncomfortable than a hotel that requires you to leave your passport with them. In some countries, where visas and passports are required, you are to keep them with you at all times because you could be checked at random. What are you supposed to do if it's in the hotel safe?!

And who is to say that the next member of staff to go in there couldn't nick something?

    Re: Security?

Things are generally scaterred in my room. There can be some secret stuffs also so I dont like anyone who enters in my room when I am not there. I've lost my watch once when I was in Pokhara, but not sure I lost that from my room.

    Re: Security?

I must have been lucky - if I'm in the room when the staff come to clean it they usually offer to come back later. I don't mind them coming to clean up the room. If you're concerned about losing things then take them out the room with you, or use the hotel safe.

    Re: Security?

I let the front desk know that I wond't want the houskeeper in my room while I'm not there and while im there. Im not that cluttery where I can't pick up for myself while im there. That only thing that I have is cloths and personal items, things that i wouldn't even want other people to touch.

    Re: Security?

I do not like it when the maids come in my room to clean. Not only do I put out the do not disturb sign but I also call to the front desk and request not to have service. I ask for my own sheets and towels and make my own bed.  If you have valuable items in your room the best thing to do is get a  room with a safe.

    Re: Security?

I think its not hard to manage own room for anyone. I wonder why some people call the room boy for everything. My friends belive that they've paid the hotel that means they should be served for everything.
