What is there to do on a Grand Canyon Trip?

My aunt and uincle used to tour America every year, on a month long trip over here from the UK. One of their favourite parts of the trip was visiting the Grand Canyon, and I have to say I would love to go. But it's a long way away for what seems like a very brief trip.

So other than the obvious going for a looksie, what is there to do at the Grand Canyon?

Maybe it's just me, but there wasn't a whole lot to do when I went. We stayed at small cabins in the woods and woke up early to see the sunrise - it was gorgeous. Other than that we went and ate dinner... maybe they do a campfire thing someplace but as the place we went to was pretty much isolated, we just revelled in nature and didn't do much.

For those that are into outdoor recreation there are tons of things to do when visiting the Grand Canyon.  You can canoe or kayak down certain sections.  The hiking is virtually unlimited, plenty of places to do rock climbing as well.

Aha, see, I'm not into any of those activities. That explains my impression of non-existent activities!
