How To Keep Kids Busy While On a Long Trip

You have a 14 hour flight looming ahead of you and you are the proud parents of young children.  What to you do to keep these kids busy (and out of people's hair) during the flight?  Here are a few suggestions:

Pack a goody bag for your kids that cannot be opened before the trip.  This can include age appropriate games or toys and some candy.  If they are older, consider purchasing a cheaper MP3 and load some of their music on it.

Pack their favourite toy!  If it is an overnight trip and Jr's Mr Snuggle  (which he needs to sleep with) is packed in the suitcase, well you get the picture!

Magnetic games and other card games are great for trips such as this!  And of course, books too, but it depends on the age.  If you plan ahead, you will have a great trip and happy kids!

My biggest tip for those traveling with kids is to pack a variety of thier favorite snacks and drinks.  Kids always like to be snacking and they don't like to wait till the flight attendant reaches your row.  Keep several for them to choose from adn you'll have a happy kid.

Gameboys are a good idea as well - they work marvelously. But these days, many of the planes have installed little TV screens on the seats so travelers can play games or watch movies. On those planes it's less of a headache to keep the children busy.
