    Argentina or Peru?

I am planning a trip for next summer to either Argentina or Peru. I have heard it can be dangerous to travel outside of a large group in these areas.

Has anyone traveled there, and do you have any tips for me? Is it best to go with a travel group or is it safe to go with just a few people I know?

Any information on travel agencies, airlines, hotels would also be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I think regardless of destinations, anywhere in this world, it is unsafe to travel alone i.e. without known companion. At least you need a travel buddy so that if anything happen to you, he or she can get help from other people for you.

I know that Peru for one is still very primitive in several parts so it is always recommended that you travel with a guide when you leave the towns.  I don't think it is so musch danger in the way that we think of it, but more like you don't know what area you will step into and the tribes still follow all their original customs.  Plus there are a lot of drug lords that "own" certain areas and they are basically lawless.

I haven't visited Peru eversince but I've seen hotel brochures many times. Peru is a safe place to visit. My cousin live there for almost 3 years. I've seen some pictures of La Cordillera de los Andes
. I think it's a perfect place to enjoy mountain climbing. Have you benn there?
