Has anyone taught English in Korea? I have heard that the pay and conditions are quite good.

I have already taught English in Japan, and I really enjoyed that.

It seems as if it would be a decent place to live and work.  Are you thinking about looking for work there since you have experience?

I did notice that there are well-paid jobs advertised there, and I have taught Korean people in the UK.

I'm just wondering what it would be like to live there though. One of my friends in Japan who had experience of both countries said that "Korea has all the bad things about Japan without any of the good things"!

I suppose the only way to really find out is to actually go there. I have only been there very briefly, when my plane was delayed, I stayed over in Seoul.

 

If you are an American and live in Seoul and don't have base access, you'll get pretty homesick mainly because of the food. Japan, as I know it, imports more. But as far as teaching English goes, people here are crazy about it so chances are if you advertise yourself pretty well, you'll get a job. It also helps if you've gone to a well-known university.
