    Ammenities or Price?

When you are determining a hotel, do you care more about the ammenities that the hotel offers, or the price? I have always been a price person, myself.

    Re: Ammenities or Price?

This generally depends on why I'm traveling.  Mostly, my hotel stay is just a place to lie my head.  If it's to visit a client for work, then I'm REALLY indifferent about amenities, because it's usually just one night, and I only spend my sleeping hours at the hotel.  If it's a purely vacation, then most of the time I'm out seeing wherever it is I'm vacationing, so I'm a little bit more concerned about the amenities, but not much.  When amenities become a deciding factor is a lengthy business trip.  So if I'm going to be away for say 4 or 5 days, but most of why I'm there is business-related.  Then I want to have a comfortable hotel where I can relax after working all day.

I usually do a combination of them both.  I don't want an expensive place without good amenities

but I also don't want a cheap dive whether or not it has internet access or a free paper in the morning.

The best places have the amenities I need along with a reasonable price.

I never like the roaches to be part of the setting.

I'm practical in this issue. I'm sensitive of the price. I guess we can be comfortable without spending too much.

Honestly, I never have "enough" money.

So I look at the price of hotel.

I think for me it depends on if I'm working on the road, or if I'm vacationing with my wife.

I've stayed in absolute dives for work purposes. But on vacation, we've spent considerably more one time knowing we'd be staying at a superior property.

Then the next time, we went for the bargain again.

When I am on vacation, I will spend the extra money to get the place on the beach. What I will not do, though, is spend the extra $300.00 a night to be in the big fancy hotel. As far as the room goes, the only things I really care about are the bed, bathroom, and the air conditioning.

Have you tried having vacation in which the company is responsible for all your expenses? I surely look for a 5 star Hotel.

    Re: Ammenities or Price?

I try to get the best possible amenities for the best possible price. But I don't need a lot of amenities, nor fancy ones.

wouldn't you just love to beeeeeeeeeee me? "-)

    Re: Ammenities or Price?

The price. I need it to be affordable at all times. I can't be broke just because I need certain things in my room for which isn't my home. So I dont plan on staying forever.

    Re: Ammenities or Price?

A combination of the two tends to make my choice. I figure that if I get a cheap place that has no cooking facilities, I will be eating out every night and so will end up paying more that way, so reducing the overall value (and risking my health). So things like that factor into my choice.

    Re: Ammenities or Price?

I travel a lot for work so price is a very important factor for me, but I still look for one with at least a shower, and WiFi if possible. I don't want luxury - good reviews for cleanliness and quietness are most important to me.

    Re: Ammenities or Price?

It's so simple, as long as I have a shower and a toilet and a bed with clean sheets and towels and a tv, I'm just fine. I don't neet anything else. It all depends on how long I'm going to be in the city im going to be in.

    Re: Ammenities or Price?

The ammenities are not overly important to me.  I do expect a hotel to be neat and clean.  My next concern is generally the price.
