    Strange and Bizarre Vacation Packages

I'm not making this up. I saw a Bigfoot siteseeing vacation. They don't guarantee that you'll actually see Bigfoot. Cool. Truth in advertising.

There are getting to be all sorts of weird vacations ...here in Scotland, there are paranormal sighting ones (I even heard of a UFO cruise off Wales).  There's also one tour company which specializes in visits to stone circles, etc. for the spiritual experience.

    It's pretty funny really.

I live a couple of hours from Loch Ness and as many times as I've been by it ..either in winter or summer, when there are alot of folks around, I realize I always look closely at the water!  Big Smile [:D]

Loch Ness I'd visit in a heartbeat - just to say that I was there... and maybe catch a shot of Nessie!

Re: Strange and Bizarre Vacation Packages

There are a miriad of vacations designed to appeal to those that will believe anything and have money to burn! :)  I would love to be counted as one of the responsible few who never falls prey to these deceptions but, alas, I think they are my favorite kind.  Consequently, there are some very entertaining ghost tours that, though more common than a Bigfoot hunt, provide a couple of hours of frivolous, masterful entertainment.

So are you saying that you actually saw it!! What i think about nessie is that they have a robot down there!!

Re: Strange and Bizarre Vacation Packages

There's no robot.  A visit to Loch Ness shows you it's an area where that type of thing wouldn't even be considered by the most entreprenurial businessman.  And they don't need a robot, the legend of Loch Ness makes it one of the busiest places in Scottish tourism as it is.  Besides, a robot would get found out and ruin the whole thing. They aren't stupid here!

The Nessie robot idea comes from an old Billy Wilder movie.

i love how the conversation has turned to "Nessie" and she's being talked about like an entity.  see that's the real beauty in these types of legends and even in the tours that promote them.  the unifying element that everyone laughs and chats over.

Re: Strange and Bizarre Vacation Packages

I don't mean to change the subjust away from Nessie, but on strange one I actually came across was a group of tourists that were on a tornado tour.  I live in "tornado alley" and during a storm during tornado season you will see a bunch of "storm chasers"...everyone knows to stay out of their way.  But this one group struck me, so I asked.  They were tourist from all over following the storm in hopes of seeing one.  I'd never thought of that before.  Having seen one myself, I can't say I'd ever spend money to chase one.

Re: Strange and Bizarre Vacation Packages

I am sure there are others, but 2 that come instantly to mind are St. Augustine, FL and Alton, IL.  Both of these places offer a plethora of ghost tours, supposedly they are 2 of hte most haunted cities in the US.  So when you finish hunting Nessie and Bigfoot, take a stroll down to one of these places and maybe search for their ghosts...lol
