Maybe I missed it, but I think you forgot to mention where "there" was.  There are often nice, affordable packages available in the islands, like Sandals and Turks and Kekos. That may be too conventional though, and too "club med"?

Having been to Hawaii on my own honeymoon, I would suggest a nature hike of some sort (you won't believe the amazing scenery), and snorkeling.  Both were so much fun, and the snorkeling was especially neat since my husband had never been before.
