    Diamonds in Africa

I have seen features of diamonds in Africa.

Is it true that these expensive diamonds can be bought from illegal traders at a very cheap price?  How can we distinguish real diamond from just a mere gemstone?

Yes, you can buy expensive diamonds from the black market there but I wouldn't even try.  There are a lot of fakes being sold a real ones and there are a lot of really bad people who, once you showed that you were willing to spend money on a diamond, would just kill you and take your money.  It happens quite often.  If I were you I would just save and buy from a reputable jeweler.

In addition to the above you will have to smuggle it into the country where you reside.  Otherwise you will have to pay so much in taxes that it will not be cost effective any more.

keep in mind also that a "diamond" vs "mere gemstone" doesn't really do justice to the distinction between stones such as diamonds and emeralds, amethest, citrine, etc.  many of these other stones are more rare and hold value outside the market for bridal jewelry, which diamonds are simply too common to do.

I'd be nervous about being shafted and given some quartz or cubic zirconia... how do YOU know it's a diamond, after all?

If you really want to avoid being scammed, just dont buy off a "illegal trader" or the black market. But it wouldnt matter, as long as it looks the same, you can say "oh thats my diamond, im a pimp" Because to me, i dont see anything special about these rocks except that their hard to find. The only reason i  like diamonds is because one day when i grow up, im going to make a car made out of diamond or a sword. :) thatd be 1337

Why take the chance?  It hardly seems worth it to me to get killed for a diamond.  There are much more fun risks to take.
