    Water Water Everywhere

UncleTravelingMatt brings up an excellent point in his blog post - staying hydrated is SO important when you're traveling!

I have a friend who was in her first trimester of her third pregnancy, and the family went to Florida for the first time. She wasn't expecting the heat to be as intense as, apparently, it was, and she got very dehydrated only a couple of days into their stay. Fortunately she and the baby were both fine, but it was a scary situation.

Yes, my wife had to learn the hard way as well.  She had a heat stroke after a day in one of the Disney parks and not drinking enough water.  Here is the full article by the way

Eep - heat stroke is no fun at all. Besides drinking a lot of water, a sun hat and lots of sunscreen is always a good idea when traveling! You really don't know how overheated and dehydrated you're getting until it's too late.

This kind of stuff makes me want to stay home instead of traveling in the summer! It's been extremely hot here in Southern Calif., and lots of tourists aren't prepared for it. Who wants to walk all over Disneyland where it's 92 degrees out?

    Tell me about it :(

I get heat stroke just thinking about warm weather. I drink insane quantities of water on a day to day basis, and find travelling a real strain. If I'm carrying heavy bags and can't find somewhere to stop for a drink I end up with a stonking headache pretty fast.

I'm glad the woman and baby were OK. That would have been pretty scary.

    Re: Water Water Everywhere

I used to travel during summer season. It's a season of bad mood for me especially if it's very hot. I easily got irritated. And I became moody. Drinking cold water helped me to calm down. So I need to bring enough amount of water everytime I travel.

Grrrrr!  I am sooooo bad about drinking water at home. When I'm on vacation, I hardly remember to drink any but I do drink other things like fruit juices, tea, smoothies, and pop. I guess that's been enough as I've never suffered heat stroke. (Thank God.)

wouldn't you just love to beeeeeeeeeee me? "-)

I like to drink orange juice and ice lemon tea during my travel. These drinks are very refreshing. I feel so cool after drinking. It's just sometimes sweet drinks cause sore throat. I still end up drinking how many litres of mineral water.

You are so right, when someone is dehydrated it can get scary very fast.  It is so much more important to remember to drink water when you are on vacations because chances are you are going to be in a diffrent climate and engaging in more activities than you normally do.
