    Cozumel

Is anyone interested in going to Cozumel? It's a beautiful island off the south eastern coast of Mexico.

My husband and I went several years ago. It's a great place for a honeymoon or to take the kids. The views are spectacular but it's not overly touristy or overdeveloped like some of the other popular Mexican beach locations. We stayed in an ocean front cottage that was part of a larger (but still fairly small) hotel. It was very romantic.

A few nights we went to town (there's only one town on the whole island, San Miguel de Cozumel) for dinner and to hang out. It was very pretty, illminated in a myriad of colors, both the people and the lights. The town square was a hub of nocturnal activity. There were families out enjoying the warm summer evening, lovers strolling the streets and canoodling everywhere. We stayed out pretty late and felt totally safe. Our hotel was only a short ride from town.

One day we rented a scooter and did our own island tour. It was fun until we tried to go down a dirt road (though we'd been instructed not to) and I got injured when my hubby lost control of the bike and I fell off.Crying  The mirror got knocked off the bike and I was super worried that they'd charge my AMEX for the cost of a whole bike or at least a repair. But when we took it back, they said "no problemo" and that was that.Big Smile

We don't scuba but Cozumel is said to be one of the best diving locations on the planet. There's also a national part that features "swim with the dolphins" and historical Mayan ruins as well.

    It's a place I'll definitely visit again.

wouldn't you just love to beeeeeeeeeee me? "-)

I have been dying to go to Cozumel for a long time.  THanks for sharing the details of your trip with us, gives me a few ideas of different things to do if I get a chance to go one day.

    Re: Cozumel

I've stayed close to Cozumel in the Mayan Riviera area. There's a place there that you can swim with dolphins, which is fun.

We don't scuba dive either, unfortunately.
