would you bring your computer with you on a trip?
overseas or in another country?..do you feel safe or would you leave it at home.

i really want to bring my laptop with me on my next trip..but scared to lose it.

    anyone ever had any problems?

I always bring my laptop whenever I travel as I am very dependent on the Internet and need to have constant access.  If I stay at a hotel I always lock it up in the safe. As for losing it I do not treat it any different from my other luggage (I don't want to lose any of my luggage).

I used to take the laptop with me on every trip, but I've been keeping it at home for the shorter trips now.  If it's three days or more, it's always with me, absolutely!  Smile

We're taking ours on our upcoming trip so our son can watch videos on the plane (we just want to keep him quiet!).  We're staying with family so I'm not worried about keeping it safe.

My daughter travels a lot for her job and always takes her laptop along.  When she comes to see us, she doesn't usually bring it.  She knows she is welcome to use mine here at the house anytime she needs to.

When on business trips i need the laptop, but when I trasvel for leisure, no way I'll carry it. But I do make sure  I go to netshops to log in on my favorite weightloss forums, http://www.imsickofbeingfat.com and others to check out the latest and even post pictures I have taken!

I take my laptop everywhere with me. I hate using internet cafes and would really miss my setup if I couldn't have my laptop somewhere.

    Re: computer on a trip?

For business travel, it is very important having her laptop always by her.  I think this is the most needed thing among others for businessmen.

Personally, I bring my laptop always when I have vacation.  I can chat my friends what is happening from my day to day travel experience.

Thats why I take mine too schatzi - a laptop, wifi access and a copy of skype can be invaluable! Much cheaper than making full cost long distance calls.

    Re: computer on a trip?

Although not used for business, my computer is essential on trips to keep in touch with family around the world. They worry about the little one when we travel and so its good to be able to keep in touch with regular mails and photos.

I have never feared for my laptop, until the recent ziplock rules. My last trip I left it at home, just not wanting to go through all the hassle.

    Re: computer on a trip?

I haven't travelled since the new rules, that could be a big problem. I wouldn't want to check it in, I'd be terrified of it getting damaged!

I do have a handheld that can run IM programs and email though, so I guess I'd cope.

    Re: computer on a trip?

I believe that there is currently no choice but to check it, and yes, I would not be expecting to get it back in a working condition. The monitor if nothing else is likely to be smashed from it being thrown from one belt to another.

No electronic items are permitted on board.

    Re: computer on a trip?

It depends on how im traveling. If it isn't going to be a comfortable trip then I wouldn't take it.

You wouldn't have the choice if you were flying!

    Re: computer on a trip?

You don't need to check-in your computer and this is 100% guarantee.  Unless, of course, you want to bring your desktop with you LOL
