Volcanos are always associated with the Hawaiian Islands, but just how much of an issue are they?

I think Mt. Fuji in Japan is a volcano.  My oldest son had the opportunity to climb Mt. Fuji when he was stationed in Japan.  He has always treasured the memory of that climb.  He really enjoyed the time he spent in Japan, as opposed to the time he spent in the Middle East.

Hawaii volcanoes are active and there is always a possibility of one of them erupting.  I wouldn't be very concerned though.  Chances are pretty low.  Mt Fuji is a low activity volcano (read here).  I've read somewhere that it is best to climb it at night. Hey Ozzie, are you related to that Survivor Ozzie (if you are watching the show you should know what I am talking about?

No, I'm not related.  ha ha!  I use Ozzie as my online name because my cat is named Ozzie after Ozzie Smith the famed St. Louis Cardinals former shortstop.  My son and his friends came down Mt. Fuji at night. 

Hawaii is a good place for travellers. For sure volacano's are far from the tourist spots in Hawaii.

Well that's good. It would probably be nice if a person could get close enough to see the activity without actually getting hurt.

I went to ahwaii once and that whole trip was pins and needles because I know exactly what the volcanoes are like but I don't see myself ever going again just because I don't want to get caught up in that mess

I'm curious to know when was the last time of volcanic eruption in Hawaii. Do you have any idea?

If I'm not mistaken, the last eruption was in 1985, It's been a while since there has been a volcanic eruption. I know they don't happen too often but when they do, it's disatrous.

There is plenty of warning available for upcoming eruptions. Geologists are constantly monitoring the active volcanos, so I wouldn't be concerned.

Hawaii's volcanos are active so there is always the possibility of them erupting.  I don't think it is that much of a worry thouhg, and I know you can actually get pretty close to watch the activity- especially cool at night I hear.  The only volcano I have seen is the one in Costa RIca, and that was the coolest thing ever at night.
