    Caledonian Sleeper

If you are travelling between Scotland and London I highly recommend the Caledonian Sleeper.  You can get a last minute sleeper birth for under 30 pounds.  Sleep through the travel and wake up at your destination with a complimentary coffee and pastry.  I really enjoyed watching the lights of the countryside flicker past, and the last little bit comingonto Edinburgh from London under the castle and between the new and old towns is lovely!

    Re: Caledonian Sleeper

You're right, it really is a lovely way to travel and a lovely ride. I only did it once, about three years ago, and in truth I couldn't sleep. I love train rides too much and spent most of the time reading, writing, or watching the world go by.

Truthfully for most journeys you could just sleep in a normal seat, but this is kind of nice in a spoiling yourself kind of way ;)
