    Travel Insurance?

When you travel out of your country, do you buy travel insurance from a travel agent?

We usually buy it along with the travel package.

    Re: Travel Insurance?

I almost never buy my travel insurance anywhere other than from the company that I am travelling with. I think ultimately it will cut down on the legwork you have to put in to get a successful claim if everything is in the same place, because that way you won't have to have one company chasing up another to check out a story and so on.

    Re: Travel Insurance?

I shop around for my travel insurance - I don't tend to do package holidays, so I don't mind the extra legwork - I'm a very price concious traveller. So far I haven't had to claim on my travel insurance, but I do buy based upon reviews as well as price, so hopefully if I do need to claim it will go smoothly.

I definitely agree. To avoid future problems better have the same travelling and insurance company.

    Re: Travel Insurance?

The one problem with getting travel insurance from the company you book with is that if you travel several times a year you could end up paying a lot of money out that  you wouldn't have needed to if you'd bought annual multi-trip insurance.

I guess it depends on how much faith you have in your insurer - if the peace of mind is that important it might be worth getting a complete package each time.

    Re: Travel Insurance?

I usually purchase it through my house insurance plan when I get ready to leave.  Allstate offers really good travel insurance and it will cover most anything that happens while you are out of the country.
