    Re: Indian foods.

Everywhere except here. Growing up in the UK Indian food was a large part of our diet as there is a large Indian population. My Indian aunt taught me to cook some dishes, but never could I do it as good as her.

Now I am in a tiny town in PA and there are no Indian restaurants, no take outs, no curries available in grocery stores; not even a good selection of spices with which to make my own sauces. When I went back to the UK recently I brought as much powdered spice and a couple of jars of sauce in my luggage, but it's almost all gone now :(

I never heard before that someone saying indian food is not available in restaurant. By the way where is PA?

Kisna, PA is Pennsylvania and yes Indian restaurants are not that popular the further you are from the big cities like New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, etc.  Luckily we have 2 very good Indian restaurants near our house.  One of them is Zagat rated at 24 (if you are familiar with Zagat). We usually dine there once or twice a year.

    Re: Indian foods.

I did a search and the nearest Indian restauran is almost 160 miles away from here (round trip). Unfortunately I don't drive, so I can't get there easily. None of my friends here have interest in Indian food, so I have to wait till the Inner Harbor (Baltimore) does the summer cook out events, when my grandfather in law will take us. Till then I have to cook my own, and I'm just not good enough!

I don't think if would be willing to drive 160 miles just for a restaurant.  I think it's easier for you to learn how to cook Indian dishes at home.

My favourite is Rogan Josh. I like the fruitier curries, as well as cauliflower bahjis and the various flatbreads. All I make at home is tika masala, rogan josh and roti.
