The Dollar Drops Against the Pound

As it stands right now the dollar is very weak against the pound, at the lowest since 1992. A pound is worth more than two dollars-good for me when I have family send cash gifts, but terrible for travellers wanting to go to the UK.

I'm very much aware of the issue. For sure foreign vacations are more expensive today. The significance of the dropping dollar is that it's actually a symptom of a larger and more troubling development. Hoping for a sudden change.

It's bad news for people who do a lot of work online too.  I live in the UK but most of my clients are in the USA - I can't raise my prices just because the exchange rate is rubbish :(

It should be good for the American tourist industry though - the USA is a very popular vacation destination for brits at the moment.

Yes, indeed. I'm an eBay user and I buy things from UK sellers from time to time. I remember a time when a pound used to be worth around $1.70. Now it's $2.00.

The Canadian dollar is currently worth more that the US dollar. I don't remember when that last happened personally, although it was in my lifetime.

Do you think the US dollar will be weak for a few years?
